MAIN COURSE

Kia’s new AI assistant 🚗 🔥

Yesterday, Kia unveiled its new EV3. It’s an all electric vehicle with an AI assistant that leverages ChatGPT.

What does it do?

Kia's AI assistant aids in trip planning, vehicle control, entertainment, and more. It provides conversational interactions and real-time vehicle info via the Kia App.

What can I do with it?

It can help you plan trips, suggests routes, offer dining spots, and more. It understands context and gets more helpful the more you use it. It also provides driving assistance, dynamic torque vectoring, lane assist, collision avoidance, remote parking, and one-pedal driving.

So, what?

This is far from the first vehicle AI assistant, but it promises to give you an improved driving experience with responsive, context-aware AI. This has the potential to make driving more personalized, efficient, and enjoyable.

SIDE SALAD

Elon’s “Gigafactory of compute” 🤖 🫢

In a presentation to investors, Elon Musk announced plans to build a supercomputer. He called it the “Gigafactory of Compute.” xAI also just raised $6 billion.

What’s the gigacenter of computer?

It will be the world’s largest supercomputer. It will leverage up to 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to enhance xAI’s AI model, Grok.

What’s the point?

The goal is to create a bigger supercomputer than xAI’s rivals like Meta, OpenAI, and more. Grok 2 needed around 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs for training. Musk claims future versions of Grok will need as many as 100,000 GPUs, according to Musk.

What about the funding round?

Yes, xAI just raised $6 billion. This values the company at $24 billion.
