MAIN COURSE
Microsoft has gone too far 👁️
OneDrive's new AI feature scans faces in your photos by default. Want to opt out? Microsoft only gives you three tries. Per year.
Seriously?
Yupp. OneDrive uses AI to scan faces in your photos. To help you find photos of friends and family. When you try to turn it off, it says you can only turn off this setting three times a year.
3 times? A year?
You bet. After your 3rd opt-out, the setting locks. Microsoft keeps scanning your face, your family's faces, everyone's faces. You're done.
Why?
Microsoft is silent. Maybe it’s GDPR compliance costs. Maybe processing limitations. But they probably just want your data.
Why not make it opt-in?
People might not turn it on. The Electronic Frontier Foundation says privacy features should be opt-in so you can understand the risks.
Did Microsoft say anything?
Privacy is built into all Microsoft OneDrive experiences. That's the full statement. No explanation for the three-times limit.
Is this legal?
Debatable. Microsoft is testing how much they can get away with.

SIDE SALAD
Taylor Swift’s AI hypocrisy 😵
Taylor Swift lost followers after using AI in album promo. The headlines said 1 million. Reality? More like 60K-200K.
What happened?
Swift's team created a scavenger hunt with orange doors in 12 cities. QR codes led to promo videos. Fans spotted AI glitches, gibberish text, fingers blending into napkins, two-headed horses, and more.
How many followers left?
Headlines claimed she lost millions. Social Blade data shows 60K-200K actual losses over two weeks. Still significant, but not dramatic.
Why do I care?
Taylor's been famously anti-AI. Last year, she condemned AI after Trump shared a deepfake of her, calling it dangerous misinformation. Now? She’s using it to promote her album.
What did fans say?
“AI is destroying my industry. Why wouldn't someone so passionate about art hire an artist?” Fans started #SwiftiesAgainstAI. YouTube pulled the videos.
The real story?
Not the follower count. The hypocrisy. She's a billionaire who fights for artists' rights but used AI instead of hiring artists.
