Spotify’s new artificially intelligent DJ 🎧

Last year Spotify acquired London startup Sonantic, a startup that synthesizes human-like speech in order to create a music-curation AI with a human voice.

This week they launched a personal AI DJ integrated into the Spotify App.

The DJ spits song intros, fun facts, and transitions personalized for you from your listening history.

Where to find the DJ

It’s rolling out in English starting this week for Spotify Premium users in the U.S. and Canada.

1. Head to your Music Feed on Home in the Spotify mobile app on your iOS or Android device.

2. Tap Play on the DJ card.

3. Let Spotify do the rest! The DJ will serve a lineup of music alongside short commentary on the songs and artists, picked just for you.

4. Not feeling the vibe? Just hit the DJ button at the bottom right of the screen to be taken to a different genre, artist, or mood.

From Spotify announcement

Our take: Playlist makers, watch out. If Spotify keeps shipping updates, this party trick might get smart.

Snapchat Gives Us A Friend That’s Never Away💌

Ever instinctively jump into your DMs moments after waking up to find that no one in your contacts has had anything to say to you? Snapchat has just dropped a patch. Meet MyAI – a friendly companion that lives in the app and is online every hour of the day.

MyAI was built on ChatGPT’s learning model GPT 3.5, and is part of Snap’s new arsenal of AI experiments that aim to get it a headstart in Big Tech’s AI race (you may recall that we covered Meta’s unreleased model LLamA some days back).

Snapchat claims it’s already got over 2.5 Million Snapchat+ users paying for beta access to tools like MyAI.

MyAI can talk to you about your week, whip up some (really) neat haikus, or write your friends personalized appreciation poems.

It still shares the same reliability problems as ChatGPT though, so maybe don’t expect it to resolve any existential crises soon.

Porsche’s AI Wants You To Have a Fun Drive🏔️

That’s right brains, bored of reaching your destination in the minimum possible time? No? Porsche has you covered anyway.

Porsche’s App, Roads, now includes an AI model that can find routes tailored to your specifications. Albeit longer, Roads allows you to pick everything from scenic routes through nearby landmarks and natural attractions to ones that’ll take you on challenging adrenaline-heavy drives.

Porsche is also trying to catalyze a network effect by allowing other users to rate routes, make posts, and comment on destinations all over the country.

The best part: while its 180,000 users have instant access to it, you don’t need a Porsche to play around with Roads’ routes long as you have CarPlay and are carrying an iPhone on your next road trip.
