Code on your busted laptop, offline 🤓 💻

In September, we covered Stability Audio. It’s Stability AI’s music and sound effects generation tool.

In October, we reported on Stable LM 3B. It’s Stability AI’s compact LLM with 3 billion parameters.

Insert joke about Stability AI, here. 🤭

Don’t tell me what to do.

On Tuesday, Stability AI released Stable Code 3B. It’s a new AI coding assistant that you can run offline on your laptop.

What’s so great about it?

It performs really well, especially for its size.

It inputs large, multi-file projects and outputs cutting-edge, context-aware solutions in Python, JavaScript, and many other programming languages.

In several coding tasks, it outperforms Meta’s Code LLaMA 7B while being 60% smaller.

Nice. It runs without internet?

Bingo.

Do I need a nice laptop?

Stability claims you can run it without a GPU on common laptops like the MacBook Air.

Here’s Stable Code 3B pwning models its own size:

Give me the nerdy specs, por favor. 🤓

It’s a 2.7 billion parameter, language model that’s trained on 1.3 trillion tokens from text and code datasets.

It supports context lengths up to 100,000 tokens and allows for complex code parsing, auto-completion, and more.

Let me guess. It’s expensive?

It requires a Stability AI membership, but Stability does offer a free plan.

SIDE SALAD

AI art? Hold my beer 🥱 📺

In November, we reported on Amazon’s new AI chips. They unveiled the Trainium2 and Graviton4 AI chips.

Last week, we covered Amazon’s 4 new AI tools. They help you find well-fitting clothes online.

Will drones finally deliver our packages?

Nope.

Yesterday, Amazon introduced a new AI feature for Fire TV devices. Now, you can make AI art right from your Fire TV stick or Fire TV.

Does it work on all Amazon devices?

It’s currently only available on the second generation Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the Fire TV Omni QLED Series.

I have that, how do I make art?

First, you activate the Ambient Experience on your Fire TV. You can either say “Alexa, open Ambient,” or push the Alexa button and go to shortcuts.

I’m in, baby.

Great, you’re in Ambient mode and should be notified about the new feature. Now, just hold down the Alexa button and speak your prompt.

Like what?

Here are some examples of prompts that Amazon gives:

  • “Alexa, create a background of a medieval castle on Mars.”

  • “Alexa, create an image of cherry blossoms in the snow.”

Time to have Alexa do my bidding.

Godspeed, friend. 🫡

A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA

Microsoft Copilot Pro. Pro or no? 👍 👎

In December, we reported on Microsoft’s Deep Search tool. It enhanced Bing’s ability to provide detailed answers to complex search queries.

A couple of weeks later, we covered Microsoft and Suno’s partnership. This equipped Microsoft Copilot with Suno’s text-to-song creation capabilities.

What’s up, Gates?

Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled Copilot Pro. It’s a premium AI subscription service that integrates with Microsoft 365.

Why do I care?

Microsoft claims it gives you a context-aware, unified AI experience across the web, PC, apps, and soon on your phone.

It gives you access to Copilot in Microsoft 365 applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and more.

What’s Copilot?

It’s Microsoft’s AI assistant that helps you with a variety of tasks. More on Microsoft Copilot, here.

So, it’s just ChatGPT in Microsoft’s apps?

It also comes with perks like priority access to GPT-4 Turbo, an enhanced AI image creator, and more.

Microsoft also claims there’s an upcoming feature that allows you to create topic-specific Copilot GPTs using simple prompts.

Seems cool, but how much does it cost?

Sweet.

Like candy. 🍭

Microsoft claims that 40% of Fortune 100 companies participated in early testing.
